The Hunt is On…..

November 20, 2008

……for the laptop that would bail me out of hell. Lately, I’ve been having some  productivity issues (since I got back from my mandatory time off). The alter ego is pushing me to actually be the model employee that the boss wants us to be.  It’s such a sad sad life. Needless to say, I actually need to double time because everything else hangs in the balance. If I’m not able to purge that corporate mental clog out of my system, I’ll probably won’t make it. By the way, my deadline was moved to December which is good coz I haven’t done much. AAack, such huge display of incompetence! Quite frankly, the procrastinating self is taking over maybe because it’s the holiday season already. And everyone’s submitting their VLs —VLs that I have to track! My target is to avoid going to the office on weekends because social life is still important to me. I want to work on my own time and place. Plus, I need it for my blogging fix. Yes, I can be that eccentric.

So basically, I had asked for my officemate’s help to scout for thee laptop that would suit my needs.  Thanks to you, dear officemate whom I shall not name.

Here are some of the options he gave me:

1.  COMPAQ CQ40-107AU

2.  ACER Aspire 4730z

3. DELL A840 T2390

4. LE NOVO G400/ LE NOVO G410

5. Toshiba Satelitte l300-n503

I’m not a techie person.(ETA: I’m not also sure if I got the pictures correctly). I didn’t care much of the specs (ok, maybe did a little research). I don’t speak computer.  Mainly, I considered my budget in terms of narrowing down my choices to this 5. Yes, the price of being kuripot and somehow a total born-yesterday when it comes to technology and gadgets.

This has been in my Christmas wishlist since forever and my goal is that come 2009, I shall redeem myself from procrastinating and from not having that much financial discipline. Yes, I’ve been somehow starving myself for quite sometime now (even though it hardly ever shows), been pushing myself to commute everyday. I opt to ride drifting jeepneys just to save every penny and been avoiding drinking spree (unless they’re free, of course). I opted not to get a credit card to pay for the laptop because they are PURE EVIL. But hmmmm, judging by my current situation—I might opt to not cashing it all in.  Oh, poverty drag me to the drain once again.

The laptop’s not the only thing I’m saving for as I have to allocate some of my month’s pay for my family–primarily my dad and grandma. I have heaps of bills to pay. And some other financial responsibilities. Yes, being an old child sucks too.   I’d be a total ingrate if I don’t get my dad a present for his 60th horrah (even though, raising a parent is a pain in the arse !).  Yeah, yeah. That also reminds me… I’ve also traded my holidays. See, I’ve been a total sociopath for the past year . But let’s save that for the next post.

Meanwhile, let’ get back to more belt-tightening shall we? Maybe, I should start wearing a corset because I’m sure that my debt-free goal will come to a halt come 2009.
