TOP 5: The Year that was 2008

You know, come to think of it…last  year was far better than 2007.  I guess it was my year (Rat).  Unbelievable but yes, it was fruitful.

Here are some proofs:

 1. Current job called me around December 07 bailing me out of my recruitment (hell) career. I mean who can’t resist eternal comp&ben damnation?? Whoever passes on that offer is a douche! Whoever took the offer, is one desperate underpaid woman! WIN. I fail to really make sense  out of it all.

 2. Got into trainings, seminars that has free food and an airconditioned venue (Word up???) YAY. My Boss has this vision for excellence and all that jazzy jazz. Plus she loves me to death (literally). In fact, she loves to give me half of the team’s workload! YIPEE! Ocassionally, I loose my sanity when my counterpart does her mandatory mass recruitment. Yep, not her fault. She just doing her job and I do mine by relentlessly praying to our sweet lord to intervene (perhaps make them flunk their training exams or uhm…let’s say…. have negative background investigation results..you know a little something something can really help me keep up with my ever growing accounts). Give and take. Yep, hard lesson to learn.

 3. Saw INCUBUS live. Hell yes, Brandon Boyd is the best thing that ever happened to me in the first quarter of 2008 Hell yes, shirtless Brandon Boyd is even better.  *knuckle bump* It was a good decision to actually screw some of my savings. 

 4.  Gone some places I never been before like GRANDE ISLAND in SUBIC (which sucks btw coz it was work related). They promised infinity pool but hello infinity….but no pool! Good thing I went to BOHOL ( totally one of the must-visits aside from Boracay). Thanks friends! I wouldn’t  have enjoyed it if you weren’t there.

 5. Widen my restricted  social cirlcle / met awesome new people -  Penny,Eirene, Teejay, (have  to thank Nan for that one), and Steph just to name a few. Also attended the very first WordCamp! Yay! I’m not a sociopath afterall. 83 na friends ko sa facebook plus, I discovered long lost relatives! And they gave me towels and lotions and ooooh, chocolates last Christmas! OHANA!

Looking back here are some of the cracks on the wall:

1. Seriously. I need to think of better ways to earn. Look, I didn’t get that tv I want for Dad. Sheer disappointment for the year. Didn’t get that laptop too. Double Dead.

2. Missed the E-heads reunion concert. Enough said.

3. Should have. could have. Overthinking! Always overthinking!

4. Damage my liver. No wait, scratch that. Experience is the best teacher.

5. Not being there. Always being somewhere. Sorry. I really am sorry. 

 So yeah, 2009. I’m sort of counting on you to keep me sane. Anticipation, there’s so much anticipation for this year. I can feel it. There’s an unsettled feeling at the pit of my stomach. Something is coming and I don’t know what it is. It makes me cringe. It makes me anxious. I remember the January Syndrome.  I’m going to remain hopeful and relatively pessimistic (cautious) at the same time. 2009, I shall look you dead in the eye and say “Whatever, man!”.
